iDVD and Studio Pro 2?

I burned the dvd up to 90 minutes 4.50gb of iDVD and the beta sp quality is reduce. I could not burn more than 90 minutes. I want to know about Studio Pro 2 that I can burn more than 90 minutes with high quality without any reduce like I did with iDVD. Is it worth to buy Studio Pro 2 for my future burn dvd?

Hey Jerome,

No, you can't burn more than 90 minutes without quality reduction on either program. The problem is that commercial DVDs are different from the DVD-Rs you can burn at home, because they are essentially a bunch of DVD-Rs compressed together. Each 'layer' can hold roughly 60 minutes with minimal quality reduction. DVD-Rs only have one layer, and iDVD can burn in only two ways 60 or 90 minutes per disc. DVD Studio Pro allows/makes you encode the video clips yourself (where as iDVD did it automatically in 2 different ways), so you have more flexibility regarding quality. You could have like 4 hours of video if you wanted but it would look really pixilated and alike on a DVD-R because there flat out isn't enough room. If you are desperate for more than 90 minutes you will either need to use Studio Pro and suffer a lower-than-optimal quality DVD-R or try and get one professionally done with a layered DVD.
